the mind of a manic archives for January 2005

Added by snotty on 2005 January 30: The past week has been mostly training leading up to the race in less than two weeks. We've got trail running at Rattlesnake friday, road biking up and down lake sammamish - although I blew an unpatchable flat after 17 miles, I had to walk back and get picked up. Then today, we rode around at St. Edwards State Park and got good and muddy. That's pretty much been the only news, save the chance that our adventure racing team may actually pick up a sponsor!

The place has very good food - although for a cost. A homeless bum sat next to me for a while until he solicited some women for some money and was kicked out. The past two days have been physically tough as I've picked up cross country skiing. The equipment is cheap and the weather cold, but apparently you need it to be 15F outside in order to keep temperate. I have to say I'm hooked. Now on to Winteroba 2005.

Added by snotty on 2005 January 9: On saturday we skied through the brush the first day Jen and I have made use of our season passes. After 2 hours we went home - such is the value of a season pass - no pressure skiing. Pictures of Mina are now posted as well. The pictures are from thanksgiving, but are now uploaded - she is considerably bigger now. Mina is probably at 8-9 lbs. Also, my "have to see" list is now empty as we finally saw House of Flying Daggers at the Cinerama. All I have to say is that it's sometimes funny when it doesn't mean to be. Good color though.

Added by snotty on 2005 January 2: It's 2005!!! To update everyone, Jen and I went to California for the holiday season. We drove up to South Lake Tahoe and skied for two days at Heavenly which finally had some new snow just in time for the new year. The actual date was spent with dinner at Anthony's Pier and then an Argosy Cruise for the actual countdown. The fireworks on the space needle were my first, but I hear it has been the best of recent years. These past few days has been spent recovering and catching up on the movie scene. I still have to see House of Flying Daggers, but that's about all I have on the list. My latest discovery thanks to Daniel is the Salty's weekend brunch. All you can eat oysters on the half shell and crab during brunch - although they will make their money on the drinks and other fare. Now I can't wait for the stock market to open back up and work to get slowly rolling again.
