the mind of a manic archives for October 2003

Added by snotty on 2003 October 18: The past few days have been pretty cool - after I dropped off Aaron at the VW shop - I took a look 'cause I've been lookin' for people who could help me turbo my car to 300hp at the crank. They had a video of a Busa with a turbo on it. The bike had a boost of 17psi and had the guy going from 60 to 200mph without breaking a sweat. Crazy scary how smooth and fast that thing is. When I get my car boosted - I want these guys to do it. The motorcycle gear is also finally here - it's some sweet stuff, but it's all a little big. I guess I have to bulk up and grow a few inches or something. Wednesday night was awesome - 50 cent tacos and 3 dollar magaritas at Marina Cantina while watching the game. We were celebrating 'cause Chris just got a job offer from MS and it only took him one day. A shame the Cubs lost to the Marlins - I'm always for an underdog. Thursday was getting my ass beat by VB in raquetball again. The weekend arrived with an amber drunk dialing - which is always welcome. Having the week topped off with a 106.1 haunted house and drinking with aaron, jenn, janet and chris was a nice chill ending. Tommorrow, I gotta get on a plane for orlando. I need a vacation badly. The weather has gone to hell and I can feel the life getting sucked out of me.

Today was Arad's 1st birthday and it was great because I got to see Galia, Hanita, Ari and Shahaf - I haven't seen them in months. I really do have to invite them over - I owe Arad a b-day present, and Hanita a wedding gift. I'm also staring at my travel itinerary in the face. SF, Orlando, London, and maybe Israel and New York - all within the next month. Looks like I'll be livin' on a plane. Drank w/ Z and some friends tonight too - the number of drinks I'm downing a week is getting alarmingly high. It better start snowing soon.

The rain here is really starting up and it is getting depressing around here. It was a crazy week, but there were a few highlights. The seattle symphony came out and gave a personal show - which, as the conductor said, was actually customary in the baroque since there were rich aristocrats and the general populace did not have enough money to sustain concert halls. There was an oboe concerto that was pretty nice and it's the closest I've even been to an orchestra (20 feet). It was really intimate and it gave me a smile the whole time. Saw VB, Victor, Veronica and Daniel there as well. I also saw Kill Bill yesterday. It was a nice and gory movie. I liked the animé scene. The movie made me want to get a katana holder for my sportbike. I wonder that that would be legal or not. Jackass was hilarious and sick. Gore does little to me, but for some reason, papercuts some other bodily fluids can gross me out more. It was definitely a weekend of shocking my senses. Cool party was Jennifer visited my office, saw Window @ the Meridian, and Alex is in town visiting Aaron. All good stuff.

It's official - I bought the CBR600RR in red/black - They also had the 954RR for $7999 which is an amazing deal (they normally MSRP for $10,599), but I want the tailpipe under the seat. I'll forgo the extra power for that =) I got an Arai RX-7 Corsair Edwards Race Replica #6 Red for my helmet. Joe Rocket Ballistic 4.0 pants and Meteor 4.0 jacket and Alepinestar SP-1 gloves. I still need boots with a good heel, and then I'll start collecting leather gear for those non-wet days. On the list of mods are a fender eliminator, modulator for the headlights, tinted double bubble windshield, tank bra, bag for the gear, and I'm thinking of LED tire lights too and maybe a trailer. The bike comes tommorrow, and the gear arrives Thursday. Went running @ seward w/ Janet, bought some chocolate popcorn from a boy scout, had brunch @ Ray's boathouse w/ aaron, drank like mad at Des Amis with Seti, Cora, and Z whom I haven't seen in forever (and saw the most beautiful Ethiopian - yes Ed an Ethiopian) and did 20 miles in the new helmet which is really nice. The Bell Ghisallo in red looks great w/ my bike and jersey. Now it's back to work. The rain has started and I'm counting down the days to snowboarding. Underworld was good too - hot vampires in leather.

Added by snotty on 2003 October 4: Yesterday was cool - racquetball... Today was awesome... went downtown w/ Janet during work hours... had some candy apple... and made it back in time to do my interview =) Tonight, I Saw Swan Lake at the Seattle Center. It's been a while since I've seen a musical, play, or ballet... A few years at least, but this was definitely fun. The principal dancers were pretty good, but I'd have to give the rest of the show a B+ 'cause you could still catch imperfection. It was an awesome experience none the less. The building itself was memorable with amazing glass and steel architecture. Act II was definitely the best, and the "honor" coffee was great. Then I met up with Yo-Yo girl at the Space needle. There was a party on the 2nd floor with free alcohol which turned out to be a blast. The DJ could read the crowd and it turned out to be an 80's night interspersed with Nelly, Sir Mix-A-Lot, the electric slide, and some other stuff. It was very memorable indeed. Tomorrow, I might come home with a bike. I'm leaning 99% towards getting it, but who knows =) Looks like the beginning of an awesome weekend, in spite of the crappy weather. The fog is kinda cool though.
