the mind of a manic archives for June 2003

Added by snotty on 2003 June 30: Finally got well this weekend - the cough is finally under control. Played tennis with yo-yo girl who's pretty good for having only played for a year and a half. She's much better with my raquet than with her's. Got back from chicago which was fun - mostly 'cause the weather was awesome and it was such a good crowd at the place. My biological clock is screwed up again because of the flying around though. The flight back was on a 777 which was sweet, but my favorite plane is still probably the A340s. Boeing needs to pick up the pace or Airbus will start taking even more market share from them. Went out drinking yesterday too with the gang and saw two old friends I hadn't seen in a while. We toasted to Tony who wasn't there with a buttery nipple over at Barca's. Had brunch yesterday at alki beach, and missed the gay and lesbian parade. I only got to see the aftermath with janet - still fun though =) They had a bike show down at alki beach and it made me want to get my Honda CBR600RR even more. It's only going to be a matter of time now =)

On Saturday, I saw Internal Affairs and some weird south korean flick (Chow-Yun Fat Boy meets Brownie Girl) that ranks up at one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Winged Migration was pretty cool but it got a bit laborious. I would like to know how they filmed all those ducks. Kopps was pretty funny and was quite entertaining. Chaos was great - a French flick about a bunch of women who become "empowered" =) Then Tony lent me The Animatrix and I blew a day watching all of them in a row. Yes I've been a leather ass couch potato. I'm making slow progress cleaning my place, but it's still going to take a few more days. The indian food is mostly purchased and now I just have to make some. The sun is also in full effect here. I need this to last a few more months so I can go white water rafting again. Thanks Hanita for for wonderful falafel party too =)

Added by snotty on 2003 June 12: Just got back from Atlanta and new york. Man I love that city - the smells - the drinking =p and beautiful women. Aaron's friend Meegan hooked me and Zach up with Yankee's tickets which were right about home plate in the box seats. Now I can say I've been to a Yankee's game - I can mark off that life goal. Went to Bar 89 right at closing time, and hit Cafeteria, and partied at The Park - a massive club that had a few levels, and a maximum capcity of 1050. Went shopping at Gap, Swatch, the MTV store and ate one last lunch at Virgil's BBQ Grill. Met an awesome chick on the flight back, but even that couldn't make the 10 hour trip bearable. To make it worse, I now have a high fever, my whole body aches and I seem to be whining more than a jewish person =p Anyway - time to try to put myself together again. Adithya, Yi and Mwong - I apologize for not calling you guys - I owe you guys next time I'm out there =)

Added by snotty on 2003 June 9: blogging from ATL where the players play. Trying to close out some business here and all I got to say is dayem it's bright here. Biked about 60 miles around lake washington on saturday and Hanita, I stopped by your house on the lake, but you weren't home! The Trionfo is so fast 60 miles doesn't even make me break into a sweat anymore - as long as I'm moving. The 55 miles last time around the lake on the mountain bike was only about twice as hard. Funny thing is that the only thing that hurts is my butt. That seat is still out of place and is damn hard. Moving up the coast to New York tonight and I need to call up some old friends and see what they're up to. Also went to the SIFF and I saw Power Trip and Hewbrew Hammer. Both were quite entertaining - Power Trip highlighted the troubles a western power company had in trying to bring electricity to a former communist state economy and the difficulties of privitization. Hewbrew Hammer was just funny - although it would probably be funnier if I knew some hebrew. It would actually help me at work as well. The heroine in Hewbrew Hammer was foine too! My sister is also planning a summer trip up to Alaska. I hope that it all works out and the family gets to visit.

Either I'm turning white or being at 6500 feet puts you that much closer to the sun and radiation so that even intermittent sunlight can toast the skin... Damn ozone depletion. I got sunburned on my neck, lips, and ears. The only three damn places I didn't put any sunscreen. The camping was a trip though - Andrew brought everything including the kitchen sink since we didn't have to lug the stuff to a base camp. Air mattress, propane canisters, two laterns, double grill, 4 person party tent, alcohol, junk food, ice pack - you name it - we had it. Among the highlights were the snowboarders and skiiers coming down the mountain, the hot half white half japanese bartender chick at lee's tavern somewhere on the way to Rainer after the trailer parks. This bar had coin operated nut dispensers. I love ghetto hick places like that. Played chess at night, and tried not to bother the bearded 20-something park ranger that looked like a gnome. He even drove a golf cart to make sure everything in the camp site was in order. Being lowered into a crevasse was definitely exciting - the pictures will be here soon after I get the film developed. The trip was awesome - too both Andrew and I both had some gastronomical issues probably due to the bar food we ate in Ashford saturday evening (although that shit was good). No more climbing classes - now I gotta figure out if I want to continue with this climbing thing after Mt. Baker in July - tough choices need to be made =/ Meanwhile, I keep thinking I'm turning into a Libertarian - at least it gets my mind thinking on good change.
