Installfest is an event at which people get together to do mass installations of Linux and other open source software. Bring your laptop or desktop, and get paired with an Linux guru to do an installation. We will help you select a distribution, partition your hard drive, install the operating system, show you how to use it, and everything else in-between.

What is it like?

There will be food, drinks, entertainment, and maybe some swag (promotional items).

See pictures and videos of past installfests at our media gallery.

How to prepare

  1. Backup your valuable data, if you haven't already. See our page on Backups for help. Even if you don't plan on installing Linux, everybody should have backups!

When is the next installfest?

LUG@UCLA holds installfests each quarter on Saturday of second week. See our calendar for the next installfest.
