The purpose of the Linux Users Group at UCLA (LUG@UCLA) is to facilitate learning/advancement of computer science and to spread the word about Free Software. To accomplish this goal, the LUG@UCLA promotes the use of the open source GNU/Linux operating system by providing a support network for Linux users, creating a library of Linux-related materials, hosting technical tutorials, and more. There is absolutely no barrier to becoming a member of the LUG@UCLA, so the club might consist of students, non-students, inexperienced, and experienced alike. The LUG@UCLA has been a student group at UCLA for the last 17 years, during which time it has co-founded the Southern California Linux Exposition and
