Hello, my name is Maksym Prokopovych and I am the Internal Vice President of LUG@UCLA. I am a fourth year Computer Engineering major at UCLA. I probably won't be posting here all that much but if you are interested in me feel free to visit my website, maksym.io
.I have been using Linux for over 10 years now ever since I got my first personal computer at 10 from spare parts from my father's work and he was thankfully too cheap to buy me Windows. Instead he installed an obscure distro called Mageia lacking a serious desktop enviroment, gave me no further instructions, dropping me into Linux hell. In that time I like to believe I have become somewhat knowledgeable on the workings of the operating system. Feel free to shoot me an email if you need help with anything or want to know anything about the club or Linux in general, maksym atsymbolhere linux.ucla.edu.
A few cool facts about me.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles.
I speak Ukrainian, very rusty Russian, and can ask where the restroom is in Spanish.
I am persuing a Math minor because I love math and hate my GPA.
I have taken 3 classes by Paul Eggert in a row because I love the man and hate my GPA.
LUG is secretly an Eggert stan society. I met David in the IEEE lounge and bonded over our appreciation for Eggert.
I used to be a vim diehard until Eggert showed me the light with emacs in 35L. I am responsible for installing emacs on all the LUG servers.
I oppose the use of the BSD license because I am against UC Berkeley.
I'm a CE major with a specialization in Computer Science because I chose the wrong major due to counselor misguidance. David also hates me for liking CS.
I currently run Ubuntu on my systems as I cannot be made to deal with configs on other distros and have general annoyances on the fragmentation of the Linux ecosystem.
