thanks. yeah, this is exactly the case. once i got the x setup properly,
it started operating on the full screen. i am happy.

mfashe >work 'fullscreen', so I would say you try changing your settings.  Do
mfashe >yourself a favor, and backup the /etc/X11/XF86Config file first.  This will
mfashe >save you alot of pain if your new settings don't work.
