[UCLA-LUG] question about laptop screen/redhat 6.1

hello,

wonder if anyone knows what's going on.

I just installed Redhat 6.1 on IBM ThinkPad 770x. I managed to
get the X running ( with 8 bpp :) but there is an annoying problem.

BOTH in console and in X modes, it looks like redhat only sees part of my
screen.
It displays everything in the square in the middle of the screen, with
margins of
about 2-3 inches on the sides, top and bottom. The problem does not seem to
be
X-related, as it is happening even if I dont run X.

Does anyone know if it's something I can fix, or is it just tough luck and i
will have to live
with this?
