[UCLA-LUG] problem booting RH6.1

Hi:

I upgraded my system from RH6.0 to 6.1, and now it won't boot.  After
lilo starts loading linux (it says OK booting the kernel!), it stops and
gives me the following error:

...trying to setup timer as ExtINT... .. (found pin 0) ... failed.
...trying to setup timer as BP IRQ... failed.
kernel panic: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!
In swapper task - not syncing

Windows partition boots just fine.  I check the system timer from
windows and it seems to be working.
