ah... that's the problem.. xf86setup and Xconfigurator are incompatible... generally, you want to try Xconfigurator, and if that doens't work, then you want to use xf86setup..

here's what you need to do..

go to /usr/X11R6/bin

and delete the "X" in that directory...

then do a 

ln -s /etc/X11/X /usr/X11R6/bin/X

there are two different "X"'s on your machine.. Xconfigurator uses the /etc/X11 X version, while xf86setup uses the /usr/X11R6/bin/X

so you need to just pick the one you want to use...
