host explorer doesn't handle the x server on the nt machine; it's
"basically" just a telnet client.  the x server is handled by exceed,
which is a different product released by hummingbird.  it's _very_ nice. 
but, it's not free, not shareware, and not cheap.  there are a bunch of
shareware x servers (and others with free-like licenses) for win9x... 
check tucows.  none of them are as nice as exceed, though.  imho.
