either 7 or 15 per channelype of scsi the controller implements (not
counting the lun assigned to the controller). hmm. that might be
different for internal/external... i don't remember.
get a copy of the scsi specs that describe cable length and stub spacing
to figure out how many devices you should realistically put into a scsi
chain (it will differ depending on what your controller implements and
what type of devices you're attaching).
plus, in terms of performance, it's probably better to spread the disks
out across the controllers, so that you have the heavily accessed stuff
all with a different data path. anyway. to answer your question,
probably 15 (the scsi card is the 16th device). or 7 (with the card as
device 8).
