Just thought the morbidly curious of you out there'd like to know . . .
I'm a dumbass :)
Inspiration hit as I walked back from class -- it turns out I actually
have an 8MB video card rather than a 16. So we all learn that when X
thinks it has 16mb to play with, it puts things in some magical mystery
space and then can't get them back -- leaving odd black boxes all over
your screen. I'm kind of shuddering to think what it was really writing
to, but it didn't seem to adversely effect anything else and it never
crashed. ??? So I am now marking myself down as "happy camper" w.r.t. X4,
it very much seems snappier than it's noble predecessor when doing things
like desktop slides and complex window raises.
Have a nice one . . .
Josh
