[UCLA-LUG] ? Files to change for booting ?

Hello, I have a question.

Which files are important for booting, particularly if you are going 
to change the disk?

For example, if I move the linux HD from hda to hdc, what files do I 
need to change while I have linux running from hda?  (I'm using Red 
Hat 6.1).  I know that there is a file /etc/lilo.conf which contains 
boot information, but I have been reluctant to make changes there.  I 
want to be sure before I do anything, else I loose everything.  Are 
there other files which I need to change?
