Anywhere you want....Learn Everything.
But seriously, it depends what you are interested in doing and what type
of interface you like better (command line or GUI (Graphic User
Interface)). Linux has all types of applications, some which have the
same functionallity and feel as Windoze/Mac, but may which present
entirely new ideas about computing and its solutions. A couple web pages
I would recommend:
INFORMATION CENTERS:
www.linux.com
www.linuxhelp.org
www.linuxdoc.org
APPLICATION LISTING:
freshmeat.net
This of course assumes that you can read this mail using some mail reader
(favorites are Netscape, Pine, and Elm), and that you have network access
set up right.
Also check the LUG homepage (www.linux.ucla.edu) for some basic Unix
commands including simple text editors and how to get around.
If you're interested in the command console, O'Reilly has a number of
wonderful books out there, but 'man <command>' can also be a guiding light
(to get out of that type q).....
If you have any other questions, please email the list and someone will
come up with an answer for you.
Enjoy,
