[UCLA-LUG] soundcard problems?

Hi people,

I recently went to the install fest and had linux installed onto my
computer, but linux seems to have problem initializing my soundcard
everytime it boots up (it says the two tests for sound failed because it
was"busy")
I have to run sndconfig at the root everytime i start linux to get the
sound working, only to see it fails to load the next time i boot. Any
suggestions?

I'm also having dependency problems when trying to install GNOMEICU...
which is pretty bad

any help would be welcome
