Hi,

Although it seems harmless, my computer sometimes gives me a hard disk
error at boot time. I have RH6.0 in a pentium, and i changed the hard
drive this summer after a crash. At boot time, two things may happen: the
machine gets to LILO with no problem and boots. Or right before getting to
LILO (the very previous line to "lilio boot:") it displays "Updating
ESCD." Then it boots from LILO and when checking /dev/hda6 it reports to
have found a file system with errors and recommends to run fsck. I run
fsck, recieve a couple "reading block #### resulted in short read"
messages, and after fsck finishes, i reboot. Everything continues working
fine until the next time the machine decides to update ESCD at boot time.

Any idea what the problem may be?

THX,
