VPN How-To for Mac

Turns out MacOS 10.6 will connect directly to the UCLA Cisco VPN. Much nicer than having to use the add-on Cisco client.

To set up:

  1. Open Networking Preferences
  2. Click the plus to add a new connection, select “VPN”, select “Cisco IPSec”
  3. Set Server Address to “vpn.ucla.edu”
  4. Set Account Name to your BOL user name
  5. Click Authentication Settings
  6. Enter a Group Name of “UCLAIPSEC”
  7. Enter the BOL Shared Secret (You'll be required to log into your BOL account to get it)
